Dining at The Grande Rockies Resort: Where to Eat Onsite and in Canmore

Food brings joy, offers a way to create a connection, and serves as the perfect setting for sharing a special moment or celebrating. It's no surprise that for many people, travel revolves largely around food. And although many mountain towns aren't particularly well-known for their culinary offerings, Canmore is a bit of an exception, with a surprisingly large, diverse selection of restaurants. In fact, the food scene is one of the things that helps this beautiful small mountain town shine.

Whether you're craving a comforting bowl of soup or a wood-fired pizza on a cold day; prefer to enjoy your meal with mountain views, or want to have a few casual drinks, there are dozens of options for where to eat in Canmore.

When you stay at Grande Rockies Resort, you not only have a perfectly situated home base for exploring the area, but you'll also be just a stone's throw from several excellent Canmore restaurants. Several are even within easy walking distance!

Grande Kitchen + Bar

You can eat (and drink!) well, even if you don't step foot off the hotel grounds. The onsite Grande Rockies Resort restaurant, Grande Kitchen + Bar, offers a globally-inspired menu with Eastern influences. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, you'll find pub favourites such as burgers, nachos, and omelets alongside more contemporary options. Some standouts include the Root Beer BBQ Ribs, Pulled Pork Poutine (featuring the Root Beer BBQ Pork), and Chef's Signature Seafood Pescatore.

In addition, Grande Kitchen + Bar serves pizza during dinner hours, plus has a dedicated children's menu. The restaurant offers gluten-free alternatives to several dishes, including pizza. There's also a full bar, featuring specialty breakfast cocktails and local craft beers from Canmore Brewing Company and Fernie Brewing.

The restaurant timings are:

Monday–Thursday: 8:00 am–1:00 pm; 5:00–9:00 pm

Fridays–Saturdays: 8:00 am–2:00 pm; 5:00–10:00 pm

Sundays: 8:00 am–2:00 pm; 5:00–9:00 pm

Rocky Mountain Bagel Company

Just a couple blocks over from Grande Rockies, Rocky Mountain Bagel Company is a local institution. Everything is baked and made in-house, including the cream cheese and spreads. It's a great on-the-go breakfast or lunch option for busy days. There are two locations, but the one across from the hotel is the main one. It's also known as "Canmore's living room," with a warm interior featuring tons of seating and a cozy fireplace.

Le Fournil Bakery

Another fast-casual option near our hotel is Le Fournil. The French bakery is a local favourite for light, perfectly flaky croissants, sweet or savoury danishes, and other pastries, all of which pair perfectly with espresso. Note that the hours are a bit different, and Le Fournil is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

BLAKE Restaurant Brewhouse and Distillery

Just across from the hotel, BLAKE truly has a little something for everyone. It also occupies a converted auto garage, giving it a hip industrial-chic vibe. The street fries and pork belly bites are musts (although they're technically starters, you can easily make them into a meal — and trust us, you'll want to!).

All the dishes are designed to be shareable, prepared in the scratch-made kitchen. The beer and spirits are also made onsite.

The Sensory

If you want to take full advantage of Canmore's postcard-worthy Rocky Mountain views (and really, who wouldn't?!), make a dinner reservation at The Sensory

This restaurant has a fantastic menu focused on regional specialties, but the real standout is the larger-than-life mountain views through the windows. The Sensory offers nightly specials and a highly-rated 3-course Chef's Tasting Menu. Reservations are strongly recommended.

The Wood

Another option with excellent mountain views is The Wood. Nestled right downtown, this hot spot is well-known for having one of the best patios among Canmore restaurants. It's open year-round and dogs are always welcome.

On clear days, there's nothing better than sampling a 4-beer flight or sipping on a craft cocktail while taking in the stunning views.
